Kevin Smith, Principal

As a proud Charleston native and graduate of Charleston County School District, I am deeply honored to serve the Baptist Hill community. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from Winthrop University, followed by two advanced degrees from The Citadel. I am currently pursuing my doctorate at Clemson University, continuing my commitment to lifelong learning.
With 24 years in education, including 13 as a middle school principal in CCSD, I am thrilled to join the BHMS community. Middle school is a pivotal time in a young person’s life, and I believe every student deserves the chance to dream boldly and be equipped with the tools to achieve those dreams. Together, we will create a school environment where every child feels seen, supported, and inspired to reach their fullest potential.

I am Rich Glickman and I am thrilled to be a part of the Bobcat family! This marks my ninth year in educational administration and my first year as Assistant Principal at Baptist Hill Middle School. I began my career as a middle school CTE teacher, where I discovered my passion for preparing students for real-world success. I later had the privilege of developing an award-winning Project Lead The Way (PLTW) program at Morningside Middle School, focused on innovation, hands-on learning, and student empowerment. I look forward to bringing that same energy, dedication, and collaborative spirit to our Bobcat community!
I have had the honor of serving as an Assistant Principal at James Island Charter High School, Liberty Hill Academy, and C.E. Williams Middle School – South Campus. . Additionally, I was the founding Principal at Allegro Charter School of Music,
I believe there is greatness in all of our students—the exciting part is that we don’t know exactly when it will emerge. When we educate, engage, and empower our students, the world becomes their opportunity.
I’m proud to be part of the Baptist Hill community—a place deeply rooted in tradition, grounded in the present, and committed to growing our future.
I graduated from Seton Hall University and earned my MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University, along with a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University. While at Seton Hall, I played collegiate baseball. I have three children and currently reside in Summerville. I enjoy spending time at the beach and playing golf.
